Unhappy with your current Medicare Advantage plan? Now’s the time to make a change!

SHIBA volunteers host a booth at an event in Whatcom County. SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors) offers free, unbiased Medicare services to Washington residents.

If you’re currently enrolled in a Medicare Advantage (MA) plan and you’re not happy with it, you have an opportunity to make changes between now and March 31 during the MA open enrollment period. You can change from one MA plan to another or drop your MA plan and go back to Original Medicare.

If an MA plan isn’t for you, you can return to Original Medicare, but you’ll need to drop your MA plan. You can also buy a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan and you may be able buy a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan to go with your Original Medicare.

Medigap plans help cover out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover. Be sure to talk with your local Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) counselor about Medigaps to find out if you qualify to enroll in one. They can help you find out if you’ll have to answer any health screening questions to see if the Medigap plan is willing to sell to you.

Your local SHIBA volunteer counselors are here to help you with all your Medicare questions and options. For the past 45 years, SHIBA’s been providing free, unbiased statewide Medicare services through the Washington state Office of the Insurance Commissioner.

To schedule your confidential one-on-one appointment with a trained volunteer Medicare counselor, call us at 1–800–562–6900 and ask for SHIBA.
