What to know about WSHIP’s payment processing issue

--

The Washington State Health Insurance Pool (WSHIP), the state’s high-risk insurance pool, noticed in early August that their monthly premium payments weren’t processing. The third-party administrator contracted to process payments for WSHIP closed abruptly, which led to the disruption in payment processing. The closure also impacted WSHIP’s enrollment, premium billing and customer service capabilities.

WSHIP added a new customer service number to help respond to questions from enrollees: 1–888–277–9135. The line is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Who is impacted?

Enrollees in WSHIP and health care providers.

What do impacted individuals need to know?

  • Enrollee coverage is still intact.
  • Enrollees and providers won’t lose any payments.
  • Enrollees should keep funds available for retroactive payments.

What happens next?

  • WSHIP’s top priority is to transition to a new administrator.
  • WSHIP is committed to minimizing delays to enrollees and health care providers.

The OIC is in close contact with WSHIP representatives and will provide information and updates as available.
